The Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow is happy to announce that their next Claims Club event– Managing CAT Claims: Experiences of Atlantic Hurricane Season 2017

During 2017 North and Central America faced one of the worst Atlantic hurricane seasons ever. Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria battered and caused widespread damage to the Caribbean islands and the states of Florida and Texas in the USA.

Our President, Kieran Gallagher has managed many claims and teams to assist with the resolution of the claims arising from Hurricane Damage and Rajen Lavinga also an IASG council member, also assisted with the identification of Hurricane damage (or not), during this unprecedented Hurricane season. They spent considerable time throughout the region in 2017.

Their presentation will provide the participants with an understanding of the challenges faced in a Catastrophe (CAT) event for those deployed to assist with the recovery of affected countries and communities following the devastation sustained.

Learning objectives:

• Mobilisation and challenges faced when on the ground
• How to differentiate between hurricane damage and latent defects
• An understanding of typical policy coverage

The seminar will be delivered by:

Mr Kieran Gallagher is an Executive Director of McLarens Loss Adjusters. He has 30+ years of experience working in the insurance and loss adjusting sectors. He spearheads McLarens’ Scottish market and heads up their Global CAT Response.

Dr Rajen Lavingia is the Technical Lead of Civil/Structural Division of Envista Forensics in the EMEA region and has 20 years of experience working across different continents.
