Vulnerable clients session with David Mulholland

Working in the financial services industry affords us all the privilege of supporting our clients to achieve their financial objectives, many of which are positive and aspirational. However, we also need to consider the fact that often our clients are investing to provide security in their finances, to protect them and their families from an array of risks. For example, as our demographic ages we are seeing clients invest longer into their retirement and later lives, which can lead to difficult circumstances such as illness, disability, cognitive decline and the need to fund the cost of care, in turn leading to an increasing degree of vulnerability.

A central aspect of Consumer Duty is to safeguard the interests of all clients, especially those in vulnerable situations. To make sure we understand the risks our clients may face it’s important to exchange our knowledge and experiences of consumer vulnerability. (45 mins)
