PFS Pension Switch Suitability Masterclass
About the Session
The PFS North Scotland Committee is pleased to be working with the Insurance Institute of Aberdeen and Insurance Institute of the Highlands and Islands to bring the following CPD session to PFS members free of charge.
Our Pension Switch Suitability Masterclass is a six-hour online structured CPD workshop dedicated to the compliance, technical, practical, and professional synthesis of pension switch advice. From detailed analysis of the client's existing pensions to presenting the advice effectively and compliantly in the suitability report, this course covers the end-to-end pension switch process. It is the six-hour workshop version of our SCQF Level 9 Practical Investment Planning qualification. It is ideal for Financial Advisers and Paraplanners completing pension switch advice looking for CPD that's relevant, high quality, and can genuinely enhance your business.
Due to the nature of the workshop, spaces are limited so early booking is advised. If you are unable to secure a place please contact alan@unburdenedsolutions.co.uk and we will operate a waiting list for members who want to access this valuable content.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Explain the compliance and technical principles and rules behind pension switch advice, including for financial objectives and capacity for loss.
- Analyse complex existing pension arrangements (including the underlying investments, provider suitability, GARs, cash balance pensions, protected TFC, and protected early retirement ages) explain them simply to the client, and use your analysis as the basis for regulated advice. As part of this, test your advice using robust cashflow modelling with justified, compliant methodology and assumptions.
- Evidence and present your advice with personalised "reasons why" and "disadvantages" so that it convincing, professional, and compliant.
Learning Materials
You will receive a model fact-find and suitability report for a complex pension switch case which can be used as a reference for future cases, and a recording of the workshop.
