The PFS North Scotland would like to invite you to two events in Inverness and Aberdeen to discuss investing in the future of energy.

Join specialists from Greenbank, the sustainable investment arm of Rathbones, and Alan Whittle, PFS North Scotland Chair and Director of consultancy firm Unburdened, for an exclusive event dedicated to exploring the trends and investment opportunities in the ongoing energy transition.

As energy transition will have a profound impact on the economy and markets, it is crucial to understand the associated risks and opportunities and the potential implications for your clients’ investments.

  • Short-termism and the tragedy of the horizon.

  • Investment Acceleration: Clean energy investment has increased dramatically and is forecast to be nearly double that of fossil fuel investment in 2024.

Speaker - Craig Leslie, Investment Director, Greenbank

Craig Leslie is an investment director at Greenbank specialising in the management of ethical portfolios for private clients, trusts and charities across Scotland.

Craig joined Rathbones in August 2021 having previously been employed as a senior investment manager at Brown Shipley Private Bank in Edinburgh, where he was responsible for looking after a wide variety of clients, including a number of large Scottish charities, providing bespoke investments portfolios aligned to specific client requirements. Prior to this Craig spent 10 years at the boutique wealth management firm, Murray Asset Management.

Craig is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments and a Chartered Wealth Manager, holding the Chartered Wealth Manager Qualification. In addition to this he was the first person in Scotland to successfully complete the CFA UK Certificate in ESG Investing and has recently been shortlisted for ‘Best Sustainable Investment Wealth Manager of the Year’ at the upcoming 2024 Investment Week Sustainable Investment Awards

Speaker - Joe Crehan, Investment Manager, Greenbank

Joe is an investment manager at Greenbank, specialising in managing ethical portfolios on behalf of private clients, trusts and charities. He is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has been awarded the Institute’s masters level Chartered Wealth Manager qualification. He is the renewable energy sector specialist for the Greenbank team and advises within the energy workstream of the Rathbones Thematic Research Initiative on climate change.

Joe joined Greenbank in 2014 having previously worked for the educational charity Teach First as a secondary school Physics teacher. He is a school governor at St Helen’s College and is a Physics and Philosophy graduate with a BSc and MA from Bristol University.

Speaker - Alan Whittle, Director, Unburdened Solutions

Alan is a Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, with an MSc (Distinction) in Financial Planning and Business Management from Manchester Metropolitan University, his dissertation addressed Motivations for Responsible Investing. Alan also holds specialist qualifications in Compliance and Sustainable Finance.

A firm believer in the need for the financial planning profession to continually evolve, Alan splits his time between researching Behavioural Finance and Impact Investing for a PhD in Financial Planning with Manchester Metropolitan University, and providing Training and Consultancy Services to financial planning firms via Unburdened Solutions and Understanding Sustainability.

Alan is a member of the PFS Sustainability Panel and a Subject Matter Expert for the professional body on Financial Services Compliance. A regular contributor to PFS and CII publications, Alan is currently the PFS North Scotland Chair, a former President of the Insurance Institute of Aberdeen and a recipient of the CII Distinguished Service Award.
