View event detailsOnline CPD - Business Interruption Insurance - Indemnity Periods
Following on from our recent Financial awareness workshop.... Brokers increasingly face Pi claims for failing to advise clients correctly on setting appropriate Business Interruption indemnity periods, and with all the unfortunate events occurring in the world at the moment, making rebuild materials very scare, never has there been a better opportunity to engage your policyholders on this subject. Recently a broker was successfully sued for failing to give any guidance around indemnity periods to a manufacturer who had a twelve-month indemnity period. Nothing was ever recorded by the broker about the fact that twelve months was almost certainly inadequate, in fact it was the Loss adjuster after the fire took place that educated the client on setting correct indemnity periods, unfortunately too late for all concerned. This webinar looks to make sure this does not happen to you or your staff. This one-hour webinar provided by Alan Chandler, one of the most popular presenters in the UK, will examine all the different factors a client needs to take into account when setting an indemnity period. The presentation will include guiding clients who are on a Gross Profit Bi basis, a Gross Revenue or Fees basis and will also include how an Increased Cost of working only policy should deal with prospective losses over 12 months.

View event detailsFCA Consumer Duty and Product Governance for General Insurance
The FCA want to see a higher level of consumer protection in retail financial markets, where firms compete vigorously in the interests of consumers and they wish to drive a healthy and successful financial services system in which firms can thrive and consumers can make informed choices about financial products and services. They consider that firms are not consistently and sufficiently prioritising good consumer outcomes and this causes consumer harm and erodes consumer trust. With final rules published on 27 July 2022 this talk will update you as to what now will be needed. This General Insurance focused session will also include an update on Product Value Assessments that have to be completed by 30 September (note the FCA have criticised insurers for their lack of progress with this) and have given brokers an extension of 90 days so as to prevent customer harm. Both brokers and insurers have an important role to play and this session will ensure you understand what it is you have to do. We will also cover the current position on multi-occupancy insurances following intervention by the government (very much part of the product governance and value assessments work).
View event detailsOnline CPD: Adapting Portfolios for Inflation
Inflation is on the rise, and it's distorting both equity and bond performance. Advisers relying on traditional "long-run" models need to rethink portfolios to ensure inflation resilience. Within equities, value-investing is making a comeback. Traditional bonds are under pressure as they can't keep pace with inflation, so are failing to offer either capital protection or diversification. Alternatives require careful risk budgeting and focus on liquidity. In this workshop, we look at ways advisers can build-in inflation resilience to portfolios, based on lessons from the past.
