Summer Ball 2014
This year's Bolton CII annual Summer Ball was held on Friday 20th June at the Bolton Albert Halls and once again was a huge success.
Our theme this year was masquerade and neither the decor nor our guests disappointed. From traditional Venetian masks to hand painted designs and even Batman the spirit of the evening was truly embraced.
The night began with a reception glass of bubbly and a chance to mingle (and for the ladies to compare dresses) before being escorted into our venue for the evening which can only be described as breath-taking. Our President Bob Davie introduced the evening with a warm welcome and an expression of his thanks everyone for attending before opening the buffet. Once again the Albert Halls exceeded all expectations with a high quality hot and cold buffet plentiful enough to feed twice the crowd.
Once our stomachs were satisfied it was time for a reminder of what the evening was really about with the raffle to raise money for Derian House, we achieved an astonishing figure of £700.00 thanks to the generosity of the room and our sincere thanks goes out to all of those who dug deep.
The band Universal Exports kicked the dancing off with a wide genre of music, at this point our photographer Elisabeth Kurtis took her leave to protect our dignity so we can't share pictures of the Run DMC style dance off to Walk This Way, but needless to say the dance floor was packed. The DJ saw us into the early hours with a variety of dance floor classics and in typically good style left everybody wanting more. Alas all evenings must come to an end but there's always next year.
Our thanks go out to all our members that made this happen; Libby Vincent, Fiona Tomlinson, Michelle Mellor, Keely Barlow and Lisa Jackson and of course to our President Bob Davie without whom the evening would not have been possible.
