Content
We’ll be talking about the concept of the ‘Good Parent Portfolio’. This is an approach to protection advice that covers all the factors people should consider when protecting themselves and, in particular, their families against the financial consequences of premature death. It’s a concept that ensures you create solutions designed to allow the life cover to do what it’s intended to do without unpleasant surprises. You’re treating the customer fairly, establishing your credentials as a protection adviser, creating a long-term protection client and generating future business opportunities.
Trusts are an integral part of this and we’ll be reminding you of the specific benefits of putting protection plans into trust and guiding you through a process that can help you optimise the business opportunities trusts can give you.
In discussing the Good Parent Portfolio, we’ll be asking questions about your knowledge of trusts, the effects of not writing a will (along with the possible problems even if you do) and why people with children should think about guardianship arrangements. We’ll be pointing you towards sources of help and support so that you can check your own understanding of these important subjects before you decide how to incorporate them into your own protection advice.
