The Insurance Charities - Domestic Abuse Toolkit for Employers

Figures show that 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men will experience domestic abuse during their lifetime. All employers have a duty of care to their staff. With a shift to increased homeworking, the issue has become even more relevant.

The Domestic Abuse Toolkit for Employers, which was first rolled out in 2018 and has become a vital tool for many hundreds of businesses of all sizes, has been completely updated and expanded. We have once again sponsored this popular resource; working in partnership with the Employer’s Initiative on Domestic Abuse, Business In The Community, and Public Health England.

The toolkit will remain free to access and is being launched first to the insurance community. The new resource is intended for business leaders, senior HR, CSR and occupational health managers, and anyone involved in employee health and wellbeing. It will feature new case studies and give practical steps to help employers identify where domestic abuse is happening and support those who disclose they are experiencing abuse. In response to the current climate, there will also be new guidance on homeworking to enable employers to update their policies and practices.
