Lunchtime CPD - Vicarious Liability Update Following Recent Cases
Speaker
Mariel Irvine is a Solicitor who specialises in employers and public liability claims. Key clients include Insurers, the British Metal Recycling Association, British Transport Police, Prison Governors’ Association, Police Superintendents Association and construction companies.
Following the Supreme Court vicarious liability cases involving Morrison’s and the Prison Service earlier this year, Mariel delivered this seminar to an audience at a high profile event in London to help brokers, solicitors, insurers and organisations better understand how the vicarious liability principle is extending responsibilities to employers. This is a must attend event and will help delegates ensure they are providing best advice to their clients in this evolving area of law.
Learning Objectives.
Attending this event delegates will have an increased understanding in the following areas:-
- Factors on how the courts determine where vicarious liability applies;
- A reminder and comparison of the potential liability for employees and subcontractors in this area;
- An overview on the difference between actions involving civil e.g. negligence and criminal offences e.g. intentional torts;
- Increased awareness of potential liabilities in the cybersphere for example such as Airbnb.
