Lunchtime CPD Networking - Feb 2019 - Insuretech for Claims – The Rise of Drones
Presentation Overview:
In this session Jon Mainwaring of Qlaims and Mark Boyt of Drone Safe Register will speak about the potential for using drones in property claims and risk surveys.
Jon will explain the advantages of drones over camera poles and scaffolding, and the potential time and cost savings. He will give feedback on how the insurance industry is currently using drones.
Mark will cover the legal and technical aspects of using drones commercially in the UK, and talk about practical applications of the technology.

Jon Mainwaring, Chief Technical Officer of Qlaims
Jon has worked in the insurance industry for over 25 years in a variety of roles from business development to underwriting. He runs the technology arm of Qlaims and works with Loss Adjusters and MGAs to provide innovative solutions for claims handling
Mark Boyt, Chief Executive Officer of Drone Safe Register
Mark was one of the first drone pilots in the UK to be approved by the Civil Aviation Authority. He runs his own commercial drone business and set up Drone Safe Register to improve safety standards and raise public awareness of the legal use of drones. The Drone Safe Register network now has over 400 CAA approved pilots, and Mark recently appeared on the BBCs Dragons Den where he gained investment from Peter Jones.
Audience:
The session is aimed at all CII/PFS members or guests with an interest in property insurance or self-development.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the session, attendees will:-
Have a basic understanding of the legal use, practical applications and limitations on the commercial use of drones
Have an awareness of how drones can benefit the insurance industry
Have an awareness of how technology will reduce costs and improve customer service in claims over the coming years
