Remote Pre-Exam Training. RO3 (Personal Taxation) May 2020

The Personal Finance Society Hants and Dorset Regional Committee in association with the Insurance Institutes of Bournemouth and Southampton have organised a ‘distance learning’ training day via an online and interactive conference video facility for those members who are studying for and taking the examination.

Priority will be given to Dorset based members of the PFS Hants and Dorset Region.

All MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) Exams are available to book from 1st June for June and there is availability for July as well and August will follow very shortly. All centres will be requested to have a 2 metre gap between desk / computer pods.

The cost of the day’s training will be £41 for PFS members and £51 for non-PFS members. Your attendance will be confirmed once you have booked online. There is a maximum of 12 attendees. If we are oversubscribed, you will be placed on a waiting list.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all face to face training organised by committee has been suspended until further notice by HM Government and the PFS and CII centrally.

National Insurance

  • The four classes of NI

IHT

  • What IHT seeks to task

  • Basic IHT planning and mitigation

Miscellaneous taxes

An outline of VAT. Stamp duty land tax, stamp duty reserve tax and Corporation Tax

Taxation of investments

  • Unit trust/OEIC taxation
  • ISA including Lifetime ISA
  • Investment Bond taxation (on and offshore)
  • Property exemption, Rent a Room Relief & Real Estate Investment Trusts
  • VCT, EIS & SEIS

Trusts

Outline the three types of Trust, Absolute, Interest in Possession and Discretionary

  • Taxation of Income and gains
  • IHT and trusts, difference between Relevant and Non-Relevant trusts

By the end of the course, delegates will have covered the key elements of the RO3 syllabus with the emphasis on the CII Learning Outcomes.
