Negotation from the very beginning

Aimed at people who are very new to the industry, this session is designed to show the importance of building skills, and share the tips and hints on how to be an effective negotiator. In a world where more interaction is online, you might think such skills are outdated BUT how were the terms negotiated for the product you bought online agreed?

The insurance market interlinked, each of you have a part to play in any transaction, negotiating is not about getting one's own way, it's about getting the right deal and representing the best interest of the party you represent.

This session is intended to introduce you to the importance of a successful negotiation, from different perspectives, to achieve a common goal.

• This session will show you how to start the process of negotiation and the questions to ask
• We will review the different ways to present your position
• Appreciate the importance of understanding each party's position to achieve the optimum outcome
• Recognise what a good negotiated settlement looks like
• Show the relevance of the CII, what it means for you and your career.

She has worked in London, South East and the local Bristol market for insurance companies, local, national and international Broking Houses. Karen now runs her own mediation and training business. A past president of the Insurance Institute of Bristol, Karen is a member of the Council and works closely with the Education Committee
