This one-day Revision workshop for up to 12 delegates is ideal for anyone taking compulsory M05 by the new Mixed Assessment method with a multiple-choice exam, or for anyone who wants to refresh their knowledge of insurance law generally. Ideally, delegates will have already started their studies of M05, so that this course spurs them onwards!

Topics to be covered include:

  • Common Law, Equity & Statute, EU law and
  • how laws are created and interpreted,
  • Legal Persons – who can insure, sue and be sued?
  • principles of old and new insurance law, including
  • disclosure, insurable interest & policy clauses and terms
  • principles of tort, contract, agency,
  • nervous shock, foreseeability, economic loss,
  • composite and joint covers, proximate cause,
  • Insurance Act 2015
  • indemnity, reinstatement, subrogation & contribution,
  • identifying, recalling and using key legal precedents & statutes
  • setting these ideas into profitable underwriting and
  • correct acceptance, adjustment or reasoned rejection of claims,
  • tactics for effective study and suggested further reading,
  • layout, style and techniques for strong written work,
  • preparing for and passing multiple choice exams plus
  • any other areas troubling delegates!

Delegates will receive in advance an electronic pack of study materials, including exemplar assessment and exam questions plus Rod’s 100+page guide to studying, understanding and passing M05.

In the morning, we’ll cover some technical subjects and then look at written Assessment techniques. In the afternoon, after some further technical topics, we’ll see how to tackle the multiple-choice exam by working through a sample exam together, as far as time allows.
