Exploring Inclusion and Diversity Session 1: What does inclusion mean?
Exploring Inclusion and Diversity
Working with Emma Clune, a seasoned change and transformation professional, we’ll explore what inclusion and exclusion can look and feel like. By applying her approach to change, we’ll start to lay the foundations of understanding how to build change in our own lives and those of our colleagues around us.
We’ll also be working with Katie Donovan Adekambi, an inclusion and cohesion specialist, founder of BChCo and the creator of DICE, a training programme for advocates of inclusion.
Each session in this series is designed to build on your knowledge, but if you can’t make a session, they still contain useful insights in their own right.
Discussion – breaking down inclusion and exclusion and the reasons for it.
Creating space to have uncomfortable conversations, understanding micro aggressions and the impact of the words we use.
Learning objectives:
You will leave the session knowing how to;
1.Identify your own responses to bias
2.Initiate conversations with colleagues on how they can identify their personal responses to bias
3.Understand the protected characteristics, whilst acknowledging that there is still a need for inclusion beyond them
4.Identify intersectionality and it’s implications
