Synopsis:
Forty-One people were killed in agriculture in the last year. Agriculture has the worst rate of worker fatal injury of any industrial sector. The five most common causes were,
- Vehicles
- Animals
- Machinery
- Being struck by an object
- Falls from height
This session will look at what happens when the HSE/police investigate a fatal or serious injury incident and the steps that businesses and individuals can take to protect themselves and their employees.
Objectives:
- To understand the main causes of fatal/serious injury incidents in agriculture and farming claims
- The process of a HSE/Police investigation, including the various stages and how they relate to linked civil litigation
- The potential penalties
- The steps that can be taken to prevent these incidents occurring
