View event detailsSeminar: FCA GI Consumer Duty and update
The FCA has made it clear that "some firms may be further behind in their thinking and planning for the Duty. This brings a risk that they may not be ready in time, or they may struggle to embed the Duty effectively throughout their business." A recent review highlighted three key areas where firms should particularly focus their attention during the second half of the implementation period (to 31 July 2023):- 1) Effective prioritisation; 2) Embedding the substantive requirements; 3) Working with other firms (many firms need to work and share information with other firms in the distribution chain but some plans gave little focus to this area). A 13 page letter on 13 February 2023 makes things even clearer and on 19 March 2023 a survey was sent by the FCA to 600 firms to check progress. This General Insurance focused session will also include an update on Product Value Assessments where both brokers and insurers have an important role to play. We will also cover the current position on multi-occupancy insurances following intervention by the government and the FCA’s new requirements that were published on 21 April 2023. Under the proposals, leaseholders would be defined as customers of buildings insurance and firms will have to act in leaseholder’s best interests and a ban on selling policies based on commission or remuneration levels. Insurers and brokers will also need to provide more information about policies to leaseholders, including detail of any commission paid.
View event detailsWould you like a trip to Lloyds of London?
The Bristol Institute is planning a trip to Lloyds of London in May. Before we book, we thought we would get a gage on how many people would be interested. The trip into Lloyds itself would be paid by the institute and will take approximately 1 hour between 14.15 and 15.15. We are currently looking on either the 16th or 18th May 2023. The cost to get to London will be down to the individual but we are anticipating the majority will be travelling by Train and will create and email group for the attendees to discuss meeting up. Or alternatively you could just enjoy a day in London before the visit and just meet us there. Booking a place now is not committing to this. This is just working out how many people would like to go and the logistics of the trip. This is only open to members of the institute. We will close the booking in 2 weeks and will email the interested people directly in regards to the trip.
