IICSE Annual Prizegiving Dinner
On the evening of March 21st, 2024, The Insurance Institute of Chelmsford and South Essex (IICSE) held its annual prize giving event at The County Hotel in Chelmsford to celebrate its members qualification achievements across General Insurance and Personal Finance.
The pre-event drinks were full of energy as attendees mingled, exchanging congratulatory remarks and sharing stories of success. The ceremony commenced with a short presentation from our Education Secretary, Debbie Hayward before our President, Caroline Martin presented the awards followed by a charitable interlude on behalf of our charity partner, Little Havens. A brief presentation by Enabling Wings was followed by dinner.

Withers Prize - Certificate in Insurance
This cup was presented to the Insurance Institute of Southend by Barry Withers, MSTI, FSCT, a past President. It is presented to the person who completes the Certificate in Insurance with the best results.

Chris Eyers Memorial Prize - Certificate in Financial Planning
The Chris Eyers Prize was established in 2003 and is awarded annually in memory of Chris Eyers who did so much within our institute to foster young people and encourage them in the CII examinations. It is presented to the person who completes the Certificate in Financial Planning with the best results.

Shepherd Prize - Diploma in Insurance
This cup was presented to the Southend Institute by Vice-President and founder Secretary Mr. FL Shepherd FCII. It is presented to the person achieving the best completed results in the Diploma in Insurance.

S A Parker Prize - Diploma in Financial Planning
Presented to the person who completes the Diploma in Financial Planning with the highest number of points and distinctions.

Pilling Prize - Advanced Diploma in Insurance
This cup was presented to the Southend Institute by the first President Mr. D. W. Pilling FCII. It is presented to the person achieving the best completed results in the Advanced Diploma in Insurance.

Sanderson Prize - Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning
This cup was presented in memory of Clive Sanderson, BA (Hons), FCII, FIPD a past President of the Southend Institute. It is awarded annually for superior achievement in the Financial Planning examinations, which Clive developed whilst he was a director of the Chartered Insurance Institute and for which he personally obtained regulatory approval.

Kemp Prize - Best Broker student in the Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Insurance
This cup was presented by Mr and Mrs R A Mathiesen to commemorate the formation of The British Insurance Brokers’ Association. It is presented to the broker student achieving the most meritorious results in the Advanced Diploma in Insurance or the Diploma in Insurance examinations.

The Brett Wexler Trophy - youngest member to achieve the Diploma and above with the best results.

Our thanks go out to The County Hotel for allowing us to use their venue again for this year’s event, Debbie Hayward for the meticulous planning of this event for the past 4 years. Grace Holmes who will be taking over the running of this event next year, Sheila Webb for her continued support for on all council matters. All of the table hosts - your institute council members and finally to our President Caroline Martin for her continued infectious enthusiasm for all things CII and industry related.
