PFS Workshop: Protection
To assist with meeting adviser’s 15 hours of minimum annual CPD in protection, we have arranged a workshop with the following Learning Outcomes:
- Provide an update and understanding of the range of protection solutions
- The use of trusts and other options
- Understand the tax implications for protection arrangements
- To receive practical examples for how to deliver protection advice (even when it is not considered ‘core’ business.
The session is also designed for paraplanners and support staff. It is also recommended for all individuals planning to sit the R05 Financial Protection examination.

Engaging Clients as Willing Buyers
Adrian will be presenting his thoughts on how protection falls into a model of ‘coaching then planning then advice proposition’ by focusing on how to make clients feel comfortable sharing intimate details of their dreams and finances.
Adrian will provide practical examples for guiding clients to ‘buy’ protection, rather that be sold it. This will include ideas including the positioning of Guardianship Trust Plans & Long Term Care Estate Guarantee Plan.
Personal Protection
The session will provide an overview of personal protection plans, market initiatives and technological enhancements.
Business Protection
Legal & General will share’ The state of the Nation’s SMEs’ report which highlights the risks UK small businesses face without a plan to deal with the death or illness of a business owner or key employee.
The session will cover the areas of:
- Key person cover (Loan, Profit and replacement),
- Shareholder/partnership planning
- Relevant life plans
- An overview of the use of trusts, option agreements and the tax position of premiums and policy proceeds.
