WEBINAR: Mental Wealth - why investing in well-being pays off
Investing in our mental health needs to top the agenda as we navigate the uncertainty and isolation of remote working in the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve been on the same mountain – but not everyone is a Sherpa. Alex will share new perspectives on resilience through his extreme outdoor challenges and personal peaks and troughs of mental ill health. We will explore proactive tools to improve our mental health and increase our ‘mental wealth’, preventing burnout and dispelling common stigmas to create a culture of openness. With the rising costs of mental ill health in the workplace – can we afford not to?
About Alex
In 2017 the adventurer and mental health activist became the fastest person ever to climb all 100 UK county tops by bicycle, foot and kayak, covering over 5,000 miles in 72 days to promote mental health in men. By the age of 25 he has already made two attempts to summit Mount Everest and raised over £100,000 for charities - all this after overcoming epilepsy, stammering, anxiety and bullying in early life.
Mental ill health has been another mountain for Alex to climb and he openly shares his journey with depression and eating disorders through his books, Icefall and Another Peak. In 2019 he co-founded Mind Over Mountains, a charity to restore mental well-being and resilience through outdoor experiences. In August 2020 he ran the National Three Peaks – climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon, and running the entire 452 miles between in 9 days 12 hours, raising over £11,000 for Mind Over Mountains.
