REMOTE TRAINING: Construction Insurance Advanced

This live on-line interactive course is designed for the more experienced individual who may be looking to discuss current Construction insurance issues and/or be seeking a refresher on Construction insurance.

The course will be highly interactive with delegate participation and engagement throughout. This half day course consists of two 90 minute on-line sessions with a 15 minute break.

The course is delivered by a Chartered Insurance Broker with over 40 years insurance experience who is a certified on-line facilitator (COLF).

There will be a maximum of 12 delegates.

This course looks to build on elements which would have been covered in Introductory and Intermediate level courses.

The course aims to explore in detail certain elements of Construction Insurance. Delegates are invited to complete a pre-course questionnaire highlighting their areas of interest. The course will be tailored accordingly. The details below are subject to those amendments.

Course Objectives

By successfully completing this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a thorough comparative understanding of the content of the insurance clauses within the main construction contracts
  • Explain why JCT 6.5.1 non-negligence liability cover may be required and how insurers meet this need
  • Explain in-depth cover issues, e.g. Defects Exclusions (DE and LEG clauses)
  • Discuss Construction Insurance wordings in detail
  • Describe how insurers assess and underwrite the more complex risks

  • Consider JCT and NEC standard contracts including non-negligence liability cover
  • Exploring Construction Insurance Wordings including Defects Exclusions
  • Open forum to discuss current issues
