IGS CAPTAIN'S DAY AT THORNBURY

The weather and course were in fine form and once the speed of the greens was worked out, some fine scoring ensued.

Of the 17 players scored 30 or more Stableford points and fittingly ,IGS Captain Andy Peyton on 41 won the individual event.

Roger Malvern was 2nd with 36 points and Ian Ferguson playing in his first event of the year 3rd with 34.

The team event was a close run thing but with 33.6 average Team Tewkesbury being John and Ann Rule and Ian Ferguson just pipped Team Bath/Bristol Steve Knight,Adrian Southgate,Steve Tanner who averaged 33. Team Cheltenham came 3rd with 32 being Andy,David Black and myself. Enjoy the trophies and be sure to get them engraved.

Congratulations to Steve Knight who won nearest the pin at the 6th and Mick Gill who took longest drive at the 13th.

It was great to be able to utilise the changing rooms this year and a fine spread of chicken (roast and salad) followed by a very rich pudding came our way. Coffee and mints in my court to follow up next time!

Thanks to Thornbury Golf Club and their staff and I am sure our various societies will be back their again.

The next event is the team event at Puckrup Hall Hotel Tewkesbury on Friday 13th September and the format will be the Yellow Ball points challenge. Details and invitations to follow.
