PRESIDENT'S UPDATE...JUNE

One of my Deputy President's, Zofia Weaver and I represented you at the CII Network Conference in York. It is clear to me that we are getting a lot right and are ahead of the game as an Institute and have great engaged members. Still work to be done though and good ideas were gleaned from other Institutes which we will roll out. The use of technology to allow you to watch or catch up on CPD events from your home or desk is an obvious area to work on.

The conference also saw the CII annual awards. and many congratulations to our own Achiever of the Year and Charity Officer, Laura Eccles of Ecclesiastical who won the CII New Professional of the Year award only a week after winning Post Magazine Claims Rising Star Award.

I am aware of a number of exam passes in June achieved by members so many congratulations. It is absolutely the intention to resurrect the annual local awards evening. All achievements should be celebrated, at all levels across the PFS and CII student base. Getting complete information from the CII is a little time consuming but we will get there and it will be an excellent evening.

Our Education Champions had another trial event of the Discover Risk interactive board game, this time to Council members. We are now ready to roll it out to schools to compete against each other as we highlight the challenges and complexities our industry faces when faced with Risk but also the terrific career opportunities that also exist.

Weather gods were good to us on the Charity Golf Day. Thankyou to the 41 golfers and businesses who supported us. Well played Paul Tovey from Jelf ( individual winner) Attivo Group ( team winners) and special mention Warren Miles of Jelf for the hole in one at the 3rd. The event raised £566 for the Heart in the Box appeal as Claire concludes her charity Presidential year. Same again Friday 12 June 2020

June 17-21 was The Insurance Charities Awareness Week and thankyou to all of you who put on events, raised funds. What TIC now need is for that awareness to exist and prosper for the next 51 weeks as they look to continue the life changing work they are involved with.

We had 2 very well supported CPD events in June around Business Interruption and Emotional Intelligence. Thankyou to Nic Hartley and Lisa McGill for terrific sessions. August-September events will soon be rolled out so keep the support coming as we hopefully keep rolling out varied and exciting topics.

My own charity fund raising is coming along as I attempt 2000 miles for 2000 members. Fairford and Cheltenham 10k races completed in June with Frampton and Gloucester scheduled for July. Strong rumour the New Gen council will be putting their walking boots on to do the Cheltenham 3 Peaks Challenge in 2020....

I really appreciate all the support. Updates can be found and donations can be made for the Cheltenham Animal Shelter at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/simonmcgill51

Much more charity news to follow in July and August...

Please continue to follow and join any of our social media platforms. It is the quickest way to get messages to you. Updated news and all forthcoming events are also on the website.

Enjoy the sun and from all your committee and council members, thankyou for the support; keep it coming please.
