Underwriters, actuaries and accountants all look at insurance data in different ways (in order to answer different questions). This can lead to communication problems between the groups. This seminar will clarify these different views of the data and explore the advantages and disadvantages of each. The concepts of “combined ratio” and “return-on-equity” will be defined and a model to “translate” between “accountant-speak” and “underwriter-speak” will be explored. A copy of the Excel model will be e-mailed to each attendee.
