The Basics of Fire Investigation

The Insurance Society of Edinburgh is happy to announce that their next CPD event will focus on the basics of fire investigation.

Burgoynes has been involved in fire investigation for over 45 years, and Jack Burgoyne, the founder of Burgoynes, was a pioneer in putting the science into fire investigation, using simple scientific ideas to resolve complex issues.

This event will be of interest to claims and other professionals, who will gain an insight into how forensic investigation feeds into the claims process.

Learning objectives:

By attending this event members will be able to identify:

1. The processes involved in fire investigation
2. Detailed explanation of some of the simpler ideas around fire investigation
3. Best practice examples with regards to fire investigation
4. Case studies covering both smaller domestic and large industrial and commercial claims.

Delivered by Danny Pointon, Danny is a Partner at Burgoynes, a company which has been involved in accident investigations for over 45 years. A graduate of Cambridge University and now based in Glasgow, Danny has specialised in the investigation of engineering failures which has seen him travel the globe to investigate incidents on both land and sea.

He has lectured on fire investigation techniques to various Police Forces and Fire Brigades within the UK and further afield.
