Face to Face, PFS Breakfast Session : “If you can’t endure the short- & medium-term pain, you won’t achieve the long-term gain”
We are delighted to welcome Andy of Phoenix Asset Management for this face to face training workshop.
Session Overview:
Smoothed funds have, over the last decade, delivered a valuable short term volatility dampening effect on many investors portfolios. The total value of assets invested into such funds is now greater than £60 billion. There are 5 providers in this market, all with different shapes of fund and some similarities in the mechanism which provides the smooth journey enjoyed by many clients.
We will explore the different mechanisms, discuss the positives and negatives of each approach and the impact smoothed funds could have in both an accumulation and a de-accumulation plan.
We’ll look at the differences between Unit Linked Funds, With Profit Funds which are the product wrappers around the current crop of smoothed funds and compare that to the more common NURS structure of Multi Asset funds.
Learning objectives
By the end of the session, participants will be able to understand
- What is a Smoothed fund?
- How do smoothed funds work?
- What is the customer outcome a smoothed fund aims to deliver?
- How can smoothed funds be used in a financial plan.
