Environmental Impairment Liability Insurance

The Professional Development Group of the IASG in conjunction with XL Insurance ran an event that focussed on Environmental Impairment Liability Insurance.

Delegates attending this event were able to identify:

  • Clients environmental risk
  • How clients have an exposures, including everyday occurrences (e.g. fire)
  • How policy wordings respond – or not, to include what used to happen versus today
  • Errors and omissions exposure for an adviser.

The event covered case studies including circumstances, coverage issues and financial exposure illustrating the above learning objectives.

The presentation was delivered by Phillip Hogg, Environmental Underwriter at XL Insurance.

Philip is an Environmental Underwriter with over 6 years’ experience in the Environmental Impairment Liability insurance sector. Philip currently works for XL Group providing insurance solutions for environmental risk management. Solutions are provided for many sectors including manufacturers and property owners, to protect them against Regulatory and third party environmental liabilities.

Before entering the environmental insurance sector, Philip worked for over 11 years in environmental consultancy, undertaking due diligence, contaminated land investigations, quantitative risk assessment work and remediation projects across a diverse range of industry sectors.

Philip’s background provides a strong insight into the variety of environmental risks facing business, from operational activities, to the contractual, transactional and reputational exposures facing businesses.
