March Lunch
Our March speaker is Nigel Brand, Managing Director of Lloyd’s Coverholder Sapphire Underwriters.
Nigel has worked within the Insurance Industry for the last 33 years. His initial grounding was in a technical role, progressing through placing broker for financial lines to claims management. For the last 23 years he has been in a variety of senior positions underwriting: Directors and Officers Liability, Pension Trustee Liability, Professional Indemnity, Financial Institutions (BBB/FIPI/Computer Crime) and Transaction Solutions with leading organisations. In 2004 Nigel established the financial lines underwriting operations in the UK for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty.
Nigel came to Guernsey in 2013 and set up Sapphire Underwriters as a Lloyd’s backed MGA with its underwriting focus on Professional Financial Risks for Regulated entities in the off shore markets including the Channel Islands, Malta, Gibraltar, Cayman, Isle of Man and Bermuda.
Nigel will try to clarify the identities and various roles of the “players” within the London insurance market; how they interact and the roles and functions that they play and provide within the wider global insurance arena.
