FCA New Rules for Pricing Practices

The FCA has released its Policy Statement and final rules on general insurance pricing practices. The FCA has largely implemented the policy as set out in its earlier Consultation Paper but has made some concessions around reporting and timings having received over 100 responses to the Consultation.

FCA’s NEW GI Pricing Practices, Product Governance and Product Value

The rules relating to systems and controls and product governance (in addition to premium finance) will come into effect on 1 October 2021. The rules on pricing, autorenewal and reporting will come into effect on 1 January 2022, with a transitional provision (until 17 January) for the rules on pricing and autorenewal disclosure. In a vacant property any damage is likely to be exacerbated by the length of time it takes for the damage to be noticed and repaired. Covid-19 and the introduction of national lockdowns meant that 2020 saw a dramatic increase in the number of buildings being left vacant for an extended period, with little or no warning and time to prepare and has meant that de-commissioning of the building and services were not undertaken.
