Visit Underground at Bradford City Park

Wednesday, 02 December 2015
4:30 pm (UK time)

Back by popular demand, we are once again hosting a trip underground to see the workings of the giant City Park water pumps, lights and control room.

City park is Bradford's brilliant multi-award winning public space. The Mirror Pool is the largest urban water feature in the UK. It can be a cool, tranquil and misty space, a huge reflective watery mirror, a splashing fountain display, a beautifully lit aqueous light display or a thunderous 100ft water canon. City Park's computer plays 100 fountains, laser lights, mist and water effects. Join for us for an educational, entertaining and rare opportunity to see how all this works.

After the trip we will meet at a venue close by for a debrief by the Operations Manager for City Park and an Insurance Engineering Underwriter. There will be light refreshments provided. If you can’t attend or stay for the debrief, we will be holding a separate related issue seminar in the near future.

Because of the limited space for visitors underground at any one time we need to stagger the visit in 2 trips 16:30 & 17:00

We will be asking for a donation of £5, which will go to the President’s chosen charity, Cancer Support Bradford & Airedale.
Preference will be given to Bradford members, first come first served.

Accessibility
Access to the underground area of City Park is not suitable for people in wheelchairs or with walking difficulties as there are steep steps.
Space is limited underground and there are inherent trips and slips hazards associated with this type of working environment, e.g. valve handles, pipes, pumps and fans etc.
Those suffering with claustrophobia may also wish to consider if the trip is suitable for them.

Atmosphere
People with breathing difficulties or asthma may find the atmosphere a discomfort. There will be small traces of chemicals similar to those used in swimming pools in the air.
