By the end of this session, you will be able to discuss:

• the nature and size of Cyber Crime and it's continuing growth
• when the Cyber Crime Unit at West Yorkshire Police was established, it's size and remit
• the type of work the Cyber Crime Unit undertake with examples of the work that has been done
• how the insurance community can work with West Yorkshire Police to minimise cyber risk and what insurers / policyholders should do when losses occur.

Speaker Biography
DCI Steve Thomas has been a Police Officer for over 21 years investigating serious and complex crime, road death and murders. He is currently a Senior Investigating Officer at West Yorkshire Police, as well as the Cyber Crime Lead for the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Crime Unit and lead on PROTECT. Steve has an MA in Criminology from the University of Leeds.
