Who Should Attend?

Brokers: You will be the first port of call for an insured in distress and need to have some of the answers, and a good sense of strategy to fulfil your strategic role in the moment of crisis.

Insurers: D&O, EL and PL cover often includes provision for the cost of assisting the insured with HSE Investigations - ensure value for that investment by managing the lawyers and understanding the issues.

Claims Professionals: If the accident is likely to produce a claim, possibly for dependency under FAA then getting to grips with HSE investigation and facts and liabilities can put you on the front foot for the civil claim.

Why You Should Attend

If you would like to understand and know how to control HSE investigations in fatal accident cases, then this session is for you. It will explore a different and more practical outlook on corporate manslaughter which should be more useful when applying your knowledge.

Learning Objectives By attending this seminar you will gain an understanding of:

  • fatal accident investigations

  • the background to current legislative framework

  • the direct implications for the insured and their day to day business objectives, with a refreshed awareness of the post-2007 approach

  • practical measures for a proactive strategy: "managing" serious incident investigation by the regulator

  • recent case law, prosecutions and the "Definitive Guide" for sentencing health and safety breaches.
