1pm – 2pm
Interviewing best practice guidelines and the psychology of influencing behaviour
This will include examples and case studies followed by a Q&A session.
By the end of the session, delegates will be able to describe:
- Characteristics of an effective interviewer
- How to influence behaviour to reach the right results for the right reasons
- Best practice principles
- I-COG interviewing examples (recordings) and case studies
Speaker: Tara Shelton, CEO of I-COG Claims Management is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of I-COG who provide leading claims services to the market. She regularly delivers seminars at an industry level on insurance claims validation methods and Anti Fraud detection techniques and is seen as the market expert in reaching the right claims result for the right reasons.
Tara is a former Senior Police Officer, Hostage Negotiator and Chartered Psychologist. Tara has personally helped to convict 11 cases of insurance fraud at the Old Bailey in the last 12 months, all borne from the principles of effective interviewing. Tara is also a regular contributor to the trade press and appears regularly on BBC1’s series ‘Claimed and Shamed’ as well as assisting the production team on the programme.

The Role of IFED – Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department
By the end of the session, delegates will be able to describe:
- The role of the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department
- How the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department operates
- Key priority areas and referrals
- IFED investigations and prosecutions
Speaker: Detective Chief Inspector Oliver Little is Head of the Insurance Fraud Investigation Bureau (IFED). His role is the strategic oversight of the Department as well as industry liaison through regular meetings and conferences.


3.30pm – 4.30pm
Tackling Fraud Through Surveillance & On-line Investigation
Speakers: David Purcell and Tim Young, The Surveillance Group Ltd
David Purcell is COO of NetWatch Global and the Intelligence Director of The Surveillance Group Ltd. David co-founded NetWatch Global in 2013 having identified new service opportunities available through new technology. He is also Intelligence Director of The Surveillance Group Limited.
