Who should attend? Anyone involved in managing claims, whether they work for an insurer, broker, loss adjuster, solicitor or other claims handling organisation.
This session will identify and root out the dishonest claimant and this has become even more of a priority since changes in the costs rules after April 2013.
Learning Objectives: By the end of this session, delegates will be able to identify; • Qualified One Way Cost Shifting ( QOCS ) • 'Fundamental Dishonesty' as a legal concept in the claims arena • Strategies for pre-selecting suspicious claims as ones to challenge more rigorously • Practical tools to build the evidential matrix and successfully challenge the suspicious claim.
Speaker Biography
Chris is a litigation specialist within the insurance disputes practice of Mills & Reeve, resolving complex and high value injury and property claims, usually acting for insurers or directly for corporate clients who have a direct financial interest in their claims experience.
Chris also protects businesses and individuals facing investigation by the police or HSE, helping them avoid or minimise any regulatory sanction. He is an active member of the CII and the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and provides training and support to local insurance institutes.
