Cyber 101: A crash course on the intersection of cybersecurity, data protection and cyber insurance.
‘Cyber’, and its component parts of information security and data protection, are topics of increasing concern for the insurance industry.
A variety of bottlenecks are constricting market growth for this class. This includes difficulty for brokers engaging clients whilst contending with their own potential for E&O exposures. Further, differing product offerings from insurers are hampered by concerns on aggregation and ‘silent cyber’. The net result of is that many businesses are confused by the risk and available solutions.
A missing puzzle piece for many insurance advisers, most simply, is plain English knowledge of the core issues and context in how these relate to insurance.
This session will provide commercial insurance professionals with a birdseye view of the subject matter of “cyber” and insight into issues with product distribution.
Learning objectives -
By the end of this lecture delegates will have a better working knowledge on:
The topic of cyber security and the relationship between information security and data protection.
How the concepts of cyber risk relate to the current general definition of cyber insurance products.
Current and future issues relating to the design and distribution of cyber insurance products.
HM Government’s “Cyber Essentials” scheme and its benefits to businesses and the insurance industry in addressing some of the identified issues.
