This week we hear from Luke Brame who is head of our communications committee.
"At the beginning of lockdown, I got all the computer systems set up, created a ‘work zone’ in my bedroom and then I had a thought that a solid wood desk would make this area really nice. I promptly went online and discovered that to get a desk of this nature with the correct dimensions, would likely set me back the best part of £500.
I have always enjoyed DIY and building and making things so I came up with the idea to build my own desk. That way it could be exactly what I wanted. I spent a couple of hours producing drawings and then ordered the wood, dowel, glue etc from B&Q which came a couple of days later. Over the next few weeks much of my spare time went into creating this desk. I didn't want to cut corners, so all joints are fastened with dowels and glued, with no exposed screw heads!
I am very pleased with the outcome and the project and it certainly gave me something to focus on during this lockdown period and has inspired me to take on a number of other projects."
