We are pleased to offer 12 places on our AF1 revision course to prepare you for AF1. Its aim is to prepare you to sit and pass the February 2024 AF1 exam. You will be provided with all the materials needed to pass the exam. The course will be held virtually over two half days, Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd January 2024 at 13:30 till 16:30. This will be held over zoom and be run by Steve Davis of the Financial Adviser academy. This course is designed to help you through the exam, not be the beginning of your studies. It is vital that you have already read the content of AF1 before attending the session. This is based on a first come, first serve basis as places are limited to 12. The cost is £50 per person and this is non refundable.
View event detailsVirtual Run/Walk/Jog for St Elizabeth Hospice this January!
The Chartered Insurance Institute of Ipswich, Suffolk and North Essex would like to raise funds for a cause close our President's heart; St Elizabeth Hospice. St Elizabeth Hospice improves life for people living with progressive and life-limiting illnesses. Their work is centred around an individual's needs and providing specialist support wherever it is needed, in the home, in the community or at their hospice. You can cover 10km however YOU want by the end of January. You can walk, run, cartwheel, skate - whatever works for you. Do it as one 10km, two 5kms or even ten 1kms. Please note, we are planning on attending a Parkrun each Saturday during January so that anyone who would like to run with others who are taking part can do so! We plan on being at Ipswich Parkrun on the 6th of January, Colchester Highwoods Parkrun on the 13th of January, Bury Nowton Park on the 20th of January and Stowmarket Chilton Fields on the 27th of January. We look forward to seeing you there! How to sign up: 1. Pay your £10 entry fee to when signing up on our event page. 2. Travel your 10km YOUR way, before the end of January 3. Send a screenshot from your favourite fitness app or watch, or other evidence that you have completed 10km to ipswichinstitute@cii.co.uk along with your name and address (so that we can send a medal to you for completing the challenge!). 4. Once the challenge is over, we will send out your well-earned medal. Remember when submitting your evidence to include your postal address so we can send out your memento - this will remain confidential and will not be used for any marketing purposes. When: Session 1 - Monday the 18th September 13:30 to 16:30 Session 2 - Tuesday the 19th September 13:30 to 16:30 Where: Online - Zoom Cost: £60.00 per person This AF4 Revision Course will take place over two afternoons and will provide revision tips for the AF4 module. In our experience, passing AF4 takes three ingredients: 1. Good exam technique – not missing out on marks you should get 2. Knowledge relevant to the case study at hand – at the right depth (and no more!) for a Level 6 exam 3. The ability to put the first two together on the day - for three hours, on every question – on a remotely invigilated computer! The two half-day sessions are designed to ensure you have all of these three ingredients and are therefore match-fit come the day of the exam on October 3rd. The gaps between sessions allow for consolidation and prep for the next session, a rest, plus you may have a business to run or other meetings. Session 1 on Monday the 18th of September 13:30 - 16:30 will focus on: • Providing an insight into the AF4 exam • Cash and calculators • Debt • Assessing returns Session 2 on Tuesday the 19th of September 13:30 - 16:30 will focus on: • Reviewing the work from session one • Products • Benchmarking • Suitability • Next steps to passing This revision session will be hosted by Steve Davies. Steve has a wealth of industry experience having worked in financial services since the late seventies. He served his apprenticeship as a broker consultant and in providing direct advice before moving into training. He has a passion for helping people and this comes across in everything he does. His training approach is unique and this is what makes the difference. He holds Fellowship of both the CII & PFS. He is an Accredited CII Trainer (Advanced Level) and Chartered Financial Planner. He served as a senior CII examiner for several years which gives him a huge insight into the whole exam process. He has over 1,000 exam credits with the CII and has designed and run training for the CII's AF exam question writing team. He is also a Pension Transfer specialist. Steve specialises in taxation, investment and planning.
