President's Message

Hello and welcome to the Insurance Institute of Jersey website.

I am very excited to have been appointed as the President for the 2024-25 term.

The Insurance Institute of Jersey Council are a dedicated group of industry professionals that voluntarily give up our spare time to offer a range of key benefits to CII members in the local area.

We currently provide:

  • Technical and regulatory seminars, webinars, and training courses
  • Career guidance, mentoring and knowledge services
  • Social and networking activities
  • Community engagement initiatives
  • Local news and information.

During this term I aim to :

Increase the frequency of face to face interactions - whether this is through CPD events or Sports & Social events I would like to get this back to the levels of attendance and interaction we were seeing before Covid.

Work Collaboratively – Working collaboratively with our neighbours Guernsey was something which was very successful for us last year with regards to educational events. Dialogue is open for the reintroduction of our Annual Sports Event which will be the 1st since Covid. We have also worked with some of the other Southern Regions to arrange CPD events for our respective members. We aim to continue this collaborative working while also reaching out to the wider regions and the PFS committees to tap into their knowledge and experiences as well as sharing our own.

Grow engagement with our members under the age of 35 – This age group is the future of Insurance so we need to make sure we are helping them get everything they need out of it so we can keep them in the industry. Eventually we would like to be in a position to appoint a dedicated Next Gen Representative who will be the spokesperson for this age group. They will help us ensure we are arranging relevant CPD events, social events or even general talks which might be of use to someone in that category (Mortgage, Savings, Financial Literacy etc).

The more you engage in the life of your local institute the more you will get out of your membership.

Every year the Insurance Institute supports a local charity. As a Mental Health First Aider myself I am delighted to announce that we will be supporting Mind Jersey for my period as President.

Mind Jersey is an independent local charity that provides support to people living with mental illness. Their vision is of a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all, and that treats people with experience of mental illness fairly, positively and with respect.

I am always happy to chat through ideas anyone may have regarding anything mentioned  above as well as sponsorship opportunities and education speakers.

I  have a great council behind me and we can’t wait to see what the next few years brings.
