The Jersey Financial Ombudsman Service.
The Financial Services Ombudsman (Jersey) Law 2014 and the Financial Services Ombudsman (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law 2014 each provided for a Financial Ombudsman in the individual Islands.
The Ombudsman’s full powers came into effect on 16 November 2015.
Over a year on, and some 1,152 complaints later, little is known about the service and how successful it has been for the local consumer. Notwithstanding its fanfare of transparency, the operation of the service remains shrouded in secrecy with statistics and case studies either unknown or out of date.
Advocate Lee Ingram will attempt to lift the lid on the local Ombudsman’s office and provide an insight into its operation and its impact to the local industry to date.
