CPD Seminar: Important Broker Judgement
In the recent English High Court decision of Infinity Reliance Limited v Heath Crawford Limited [2023] EWHC 3022 (Comm), the English Court provided a reminder of the key duties of insurance brokers and summarised the elements that must be proven in a broker negligence claim. Unusually it also provided an example of how a claim of contributory negligence may operate to reduce the amount recoverable by a claimant insured.
Advocate Lee Ingram FCII will explain the facts of the case and the important practical lessons to be learnt from the judgment.
Learning Objectives:
-
What is broker negligence?
-
Understand the issues in this complex case; and
-
What does this judgement mean for our local brokers?
The seminar will be followed by complimentary drinks and canapes organised by our new President, Casey Jones. This will give members a chance to network and meet the current local council representatives.
