Brake: Road Safety and Fleet Risk Management

This year as well as the Insurance Charities the Insurance Institute of Leeds has chosen to support ‘Brake’ the Road Safety Charity. In our lunchtime lecture Brake will give an overview on the charity, giving insight into their support services, campaigns and community education projects. They will also be presenting on Fleet Risk Management and their Road Safety Programmes which are provided to organisations operating fleets of vehicles and road safety professionals.

Speaker Boigraphies
Ellie Pearson, professional engagement manager, Brake
Ellie graduated from Cambridge University in 2010. In 2011, she began working in Brake’s professional engagement division, specialising in supporting fleets in managing their at-work road risk. As part of her role Ellie oversees Brake’s event programme for fleet and road safety professionals, delivering events including workshops and seminars, and larger events including Brake’s annual Fleet Safety Conference and Awards. Ellie also manages Brake’s professional membership scheme, which provides best practice guidance and support to fleets from around the globe on managing occupational road risk.
Ellie has been manager of Brake’s professional engagement team since 2013; her team currently supports more than 1,000 companies through its low-cost Brake Professional membership scheme.
Joe Fenton, community fundraiser, Brake
Joe began working for Brake in November 2014 where he joined the Community Fundraising team. As part of his role, Joe works with volunteers across the UK to coordinate a range of community events to generate vital funds for the charity work. Joe also works closely with companies, schools and bereaved individuals, helping them to undertake fundraising and road safety awareness-raising projects.
Joe has previously worked for Marie Curie Cancer Care as a community fundraiser in the North & East Yorkshire fundraising office.
