Cyber preventative measures and claims management

The use of, and reliance on IT and the Internet for pretty much all organisations in developed nations is as ubiquitous as the trust that users and organisations place in such technologies. The trouble is that the trust is mostly misplaced. Whilst it is possible to make many technologies relatively secure, the perceived sacrifice of usability is not one many users are prepared to make. Criminals know this and like vultures to a kill they prey on the hundreds of thousands around the world that pay little heed to security and blindly use IT for payments and other sensitive activities.
At present, online fraud is the single biggest area of crime in the UK and globally. Governments are able to do little to stop it and online hackers and fraudsters are making literally billions whilst they are at little risk of being caught and successfully prosecuted.
This presentation will show how the simplest mistakes can easily lead users to becoming just another statistic in the fastest growing crime spree in history. It will also show how risk transfer through insurance may well be the only option and an eventual way back to a status quo which is significantly better for modern society.
