Inaugural Supper Success!

The Insurance Institute of Leicester held it's Inaugural Supper and Awards Evening on Thursday 24th September with a dual purpose - to launch it's Autumn season of events, and to celebrate success by local general insurance and financial planning professionals in completion of their qualifications during the last 12 months.

President of the Institute David Hutchinson, presented awards to those members that had achieved the best performances in completion of the Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications within both the general insurance and personal financial planning syllabuses. A special national Chartered Insurance Institute award was also presented to the winner of the Catlin Prize for Excellence in Claims Practice.

Six members of the institute have reached the pinnacle of their profession by achieving Fellowship of the CII status, demonstrating complete all-round professional competence. They were all recognised by the presentation to each of a framed certificate, a cheque for £150, and to shared possession of the Mellor Plate.

The Institute also presented it's Young Achiever of the Year Award to Sam Spare Dip CII of P F Spare Insurance Brokers, and an award to the runner-up Alasdair Walker APFS of Hunter, Aitkenhead and Walker. These awards were sponsored by Aspects Insurance Recruitment.

As part of the evening, members also heard from Corin Crane from the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership on their role in promoting and developing opportunities which exist within Leicestershire for new business start-ups and for existing businesses, to grow and expand.

The evening was rounded off with some light relief from comedian and Past President of the Institute Brian Brookes.
