WW Group Retain Five-a-Side Trophy

The Insurance Institute of Leicester’s Annual Five-a-Side Soccer Tournament took place on Tuesday 12 April 2016 at Goals Soccer Centre in Crown Hills, Leicester.

16 teams took part and the format consisted of 4 groups of 4 teams, with each team playing 3 short matches in the group stage, and each group winner going through to the Semi-Finals.

The football was of a high standard, played in fine weather and featured some excellent goals.

The Semi-Finals saw last years winners, ‘WW Group 1’ beat ‘CRK Insurance’ by 3 goals to nil, and ‘Murder on Zidane’s Floor’ (AJG) beat ‘VTG’ (Vehicle Trading Group) on penalties.

The Final was a very close fought affair with defences in control and it finished 0-0 at the end of normal time. However, ‘WW Group 1’ triumphed 3-2 in the penalty shoot-out to claim and retain the coveted shield.

Each member of the winning team received M&S gift vouchers.
