The presentation will focus on the changes to tax bands and allowances and developments in the pipeline for 2017/18

By the end of the seminar, delegates will have a greater understanding of and be able to explain:

  • The 2016/17 income tax bands and the new allowances
  • How the ordering basis of taxation works and applies to clients who have multiple sources of income including that from their investment portfolios
  • How dividends will be taxed and the opportunities for clients to use their new 0% rated allowance
  • Which investment products can be core to a client's portfolio to enable them to maximise the use of their tax bands and allowances.

Speaker: Ian Searle

International Business Development Manager, Standard Life

Ian Searle is responsible for supporting the sales teams and the development of Standard Life's International Bond proposition.

He has worked in the industry for the past 30 years in sales, development and management roles, and is a regular speaker at international investment events as well as being a key presenter for Standard Life's own seminars for financial intermediaries on technical subjects concerning retirement, investments, trusts, taxation and succession planning.
