Everyone has been touched in some way by the tragic events of the Grenfell fire in 2017 where over 70 people died. This session will explore the changes made to Grenfell Tower, how the fire risk changed leading to devastating consequences. The session will then look forward to how building regulations are changing in the UK in response to Grenfell.

How fire was able to spread into and through insulated wall claddings
How such systems were approved under building regulations
What actions could be taken to ensure cladding systems are safe
An understanding of stay put policies vs mass evacuation
The changes to building regulations now being made
Your presenter:
Rob has been in the insurance industry for nearly 30 years and within commercial risk management for the last 23 years and has taken a keen interest in the developments of new methods of construction and energy efficiency. Rob sits on many external committee’s including the RISC Authority passive which specifically looks at how building materials and workmanship can prevent the spread of fire. Rob also was involved in the ABI’s response as part of the Grenfell enquiries which also considered the flaws in current regulation. Rob is also Leicester based, having previously worked for the “Royal” originally/RSA, then Independent and AXA since 2001.
