Tax and Estate planning update
Cathy spoke about two areas of inheritance tax planning that each often give rise to confusion. The first covered the importance of getting the order in which gifts are made right to ensure that tax is minimised or is paid by the most appropriate person or class of person. The second covered things that need to be considered on the death of the first of a married couple or civil partnership.
It was a lively audience of around 60 and a great mixture of financial planners, investment professionals, estate lawyers, accountants and students. The feedback was really good and everyone came away having learned something useful.
