A tribute to Kenneth Moore By Kevin Gillibrand
I first came across Ken in 1995 when I joined PWS as a young(ish) Independent Financial Adviser. Ken was always a prominent figure in the Merseyside Financial Community and always keen to offer advice and support to his peers and colleagues. Ken launched the Merseyside Pension Transfer Club in the late 1990s which later became The Merseyside Life & Pensions Society, and subsequently became Financial Liverpool, serving as Chairman until his eventual retirement.
Ken was extremely proud of his association with both Merseyside Life & Pensions and The Insurance Institute of Liverpool, where he became President in 2008. Ken was also a Pensions and Divorce specialist and was an active member of the local Resolution Pod.
In March 2004, my business partner Paul Bocking and I set up Fraser Wealth Management and we approached Ken to become our business mentor. Ken later became Chairman of Fraser Wealth Management and was invaluable in advising Paul and me in our formative years. The guidance that Ken gave to Paul and me was so helpful, and Ken was key to ensure that Fraser Wealth Management got off to a good start! Something both Paul and I will never forget.
As well as being a Chartered Financial Planner, Ken was also a Certified Financial Planner, and all who knew Ken would attest to his high standards of professionalism.
Ever the pioneer in 2009, Ken then liaised with Brian Sweeny to enrol himself, Paul and me onto the pilot course for the master’s degree in Financial Planning with Manchester Metropolitan University, along with Jane Gow, George and David Murphy.
Ken played a full and active role in the Financial Services Community in Merseyside right up to his retirement, enjoying roles with Powell Financial Management and Parkgate Financial Services after selling his own practice. Ken always gave his time so readily and was one of life’s natural gentleman and was such an inspiration to many.
Eventually Ken decided to retire and moved to Bournemouth with his wife, Cath.
Sadly, I lost touch with Ken after his move to Bournemouth and it was a tragic shock to hear of Ken’s passing. He will be sadly missed by the people who knew him, but not forgotten.
