Trusts – don’t you just love them. From the Residence Nil Rate Band to lifetime gifting. Help!

Speaker: Graeme Robb, Senior Technical Manager, Prudential

With rising IHT receipts, it’s important that clients maximise the benefits of the recently introduced Residence Nil Rate Band (RNRB). It’s fair to say that it isn’t the most user friendly IHT initiative and if it isn’t complicated enough, advisers need to understand how its availability is impacted by the existence of trusts. This session aims to give you some ground rules and what to look out for.

Also, away from the RNRB, for those clients contemplating an investment placed in an insurance company trust, then how do you arrive at the most appropriate trust solution given the client circumstances? In the session, we will run through the thought process behind trusts selection

The learning objectives for the session are to

• Understand the impact of trusts on the recently introduced Residence Nil Rate Band
• Consider standard insurance company trusts and how to choose the right one

Our Chairman, Keith Marshall will be stepping down for personal reasons. We therefore need to vote in a new Chairman for 2018.

If you’re interested in getting involved to promote professionalism at a local level, please contact the Secretary, Julie Calvert, by email julie.calvert@pavis.co.uk by Monday 22nd January 2018, giving details of your reasons for wanting to join the committee. In the case of a member wishing to join the committee for the current year, this will be put to a member vote at the AGM.
