About our speaker
Ian Williams is a former member of the London Stock Exchange and has been involved in financial markets for over 40 years primarily in the Institutional UK Gilt Market as a Specialist Gilt Stockbroker, a Gilt-Edged Market Maker ( Index linked Gilts ) ,and as head of a Government Bond Proprietary Trading Unit working for Institutions such as JPMorgan Chase ,Kleinwort Benson & Guinness Mahon. In 2002 He became the Chairman & CEO of Charteris Treasury Portfolio Managers ltd a boutique private client wealth manager where the Firm started to acquire OEIC mandates starting off in 2003 with a Close Brothers Gilt Fund & then the City Financial Gilt which was top of the IA Gilt Sector for 3 of the 7 years that Charteris ran the Fund. In 2011 Charteris launched the Charteris Gold & Precious Metals Fund which was the top performing UK Mutual Fund across all sectors ( 4000 Funds ) in 2016 & again in 2019.
Also, in 2017 Charteris launched the Charteris Strategic Bond Fund which has outperformed every other UK Gilt Fund over the past 5 years. In 2024 Ian won the Citywire Award for Best Portfolio Manager in the Bonds-Sterling Strategic Bond Sector.
