Maurice Hempsell's Legacy

Maurice Spencer Hempsell was president at Luton in 1957 and then again in 1967.

He had many roles at the CII (incl Chairman of the Examinations Committee and a Vice-President) and as a loss adjuster, he was very proud to be President of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters.

Many of our longstanding council members went to his funeral when he sadly passed away in 2008 and we are very pleased to see that his legacy carries on with a scholarship for research into insurance and risk management at the University of Nottingham. What a wonderful epitaph and man.
